Some *Extremely* Exciting News!

Hello!

So, we have some *extremely* exciting news!!!!!  But first, a back story.....

We had an AMAZING kitty named Sampson (we called him Sammer).  He was super, super social, and loved absolutely everyone.  He was the best cat we could have ever asked for.  Last August, at the young age of 8, we lost him to a blood clot after he experienced two seizures earlier in the year.  We woke up one morning, and we found him in the bathroom with his back legs paralyzed.  He had a blood clot that was cutting off the blood circulation to his body and the paralysis was just a symptom of that.  There was nothing the vet could do to save him, so had to put him down.  It makes us all super sad just thinking about it.  He was such a sweet, young cat, and we loved him so much.

Now, onto the super duper exciting news!!!!!!  We are getting two kitties!!!!!  We are rescuing two 6 month year old Ragdoll mixes from a rescue about 4 hours away.  My mom and sister are actually driving right now, and my dad and I are preparing for the kittens.  They are an early Christmas present. Isn't this exciting?!?!?!?!?  We are sooooooo happy!  We haven't chosen names yet, because we want to meet them first.  We have several ideas, though!  I will post pictures tomorrow.  I can't wait to meet them!!!!!

AG Christmas!

Hello!

On Sunday evening, Audrey, Elizabeth, Kate, McKenna, and Fern set up their Christmas tree, stockings, and decorations.  We also set up a really fun little scene.  I made a few collages because I have so many pics!

These are all of their ornaments and their tree-topper.  Aren't they pretty?

{From L to R, Top to Bottom} Tree topper (one of our ornaments my mom made), blown-glass angel, snowflake made by Lindsay, a Wreath (given to my mom by one of her preschool students years ago), stocking from Wal-Mart ($2 for 6), Teddy Bear from Wal-Mart ($2 for 4), "Granddaughter" ornament from my grandpa, Care Bear (Love-A-Lot), Ballet Shoes from the "Nutcracker," and a Snowman from Michael's! :P

Elizabeth has been very busy baking Christmas treats!  The pictures on the far right are of the gingerbreads.  My mom and I found them in the $1 rack at Michael's.  They were originally push-pins, but we cut the metal part off, and filed it down so it wasn't sharp.  They are really cute, and great AG treats!

Their tree.  Isn't it cute?  We got it from Wal-Mart for $20, and we love it!  I thought it would be really cute for them to have a garland, and so did Lindsay.  We just used left-over wrapping beads.  Audrey is putting an ornament on the tree.  In the top right corner, you can see the whole scene.

McKenna and Kate are hanging the stockings!  I thought it would be cute to hang them from the ceiling, and Lindsay came up with the brilliant idea to hang them all off one string.  I put the two pictures at the bottom up to show how we hung them.  SCOTCH TAPE DOES NOT WORK!!!!  Only painters tape.  It still fell down, but it stayed up for a week instead of a few minutes.  Oh well, we just have to keep fixing it.

Fern's job was to place the snowmen.  The snowmen are actually ornaments.  We will probably end up cutting the strings off.

The pets!  They were all getting in on the action.  Kooper was decorating with Fern, Toasty was helping Audrey with the ornaments, Coconut was baking with Elizabeth, and Chocolate Chip seemed determined to knock Kate off the couch!

I hope you enjoyed all of my pictures!

Have you and your dolls decorated yet?

Have a great night!

Snow + A Reminder

Hello!

So, if you saw my post yesterday, you know that it was snowing!  We got about 8 inches total, and there is supposed to be more coming Sunday.  It snowed a bit this morning, but not much.  Here are some pictures:

During the storm yesterday!

Not sure if this was taken yesterday or today, but this shows the stormy sky and the silver lake.

The stormy clouds.

How much snow we actually got.  It is a bit compacted in this picture.

This is one of our favorite views.

The snow is so much fun, and it's not supposed to melt this time, because it's getting cold.  We are supposed to get more on Sunday and next week.  Yay!!!!

I still have 4 spots open for guest posting in the month of December!  You can choose any days you want except for Christmas Eve (24) and Christmas Day (25).  If you are interested in guest posting, please visit this post and email me at americangirlgrace@yahoo.com.  Thanks!

Have a great night!

AG Electronics

Hello!

Today I was trying to figure out what my dolls were going to get from Santa (me).  I then had a fantastical idea!!!!  A MacBook and iPad!!  I made them using paper and craft foam.  I also ended up making an iPhone.  Here are some pics:

{Click to Enlarge}
I made a collage on PicMonkey since there are so many pictures.
{From Left to Right, Top to Bottom}
Front of iPhone, Back of iPhone, Side of iPhone, Audrey holding iPad, MacBook, Audrey holding iPhone, Back of iPad, Front of iPad, Side of MacBook, MacBook keyboard

I couldn't fit this picture in the collage, but I wanted to show you what the lid of the MacBook looked like.

I had so much fun making these items!

iPad and iPhone:

1. Find a picture of the iPad/iPhone off the internet and print it out.  I used these pictures:

2. Cut out front and back of iPad/iPhone.  Trace both the front and the back of iPad/iPhone onto separate pieces of white craft foam and glue paper to the craft foam.  (I used scrapbook adhesive, but it is not sticking real well, so I think I will re-glue it with either Elmer's School Glue or a glue stick.)

3. Using hot glue, glue the two pieces together; blank sides facing each other.

4. Draw little 'buttons' on the side with permanent marker.

5. Give to your doll, and enjoy!

MacBook:

1. Find a picture of the MacBook keyboard off the internet and print it out.  I used this picture:

2. Take a screenshot of your computer on a page you like, and print it out.  (I used the American Girl Website's 'Play' page.)

3.  Cut the keyboard out, and cut the screenshot to the same size.  Measure on white craft foam, lining the paper up vertically, giving a border on each photo, and a little extra room in the center.

4. Cut the craft foam out and glue the paper to the foam.  (I used scrapbook adhesive, but it is not sticking real well, so I think I will re-glue it with either Elmer's School Glue or a glue stick.)

5. Put an Apple sticker on the lid of the computer.  (If you don't have one that has come with an Apple product you've bought, you can probably find something on the internet.)

6. Draw the ports on the side of the computer with a permanent marker.  (If you have a MacBook like me, you can just copy it off there.  If not, you can find a picture on the internet.)

7. Give to your doll, and enjoy!

For the MacBook, I haven't figured out how to keep the lid propped up.  I put it under some books for a few hours, but within a few minutes of having it out, it just opened up and flattened out again.  I put a few dots of hot glue in the crease, and that helped a little.

I hope that I have given you some ideas for your dolls!

Have a great night!

Thanksgiving Break!

Hello!

So, I haven't posted about Thanksgiving break yet, and I thought I'd fill you in before Christmas is even CLOSER (I can't believe it's already the 8th!!!!), and there are other holiday things going on. :o)

We started out the week by going ice skating.  We didn't get any shots of us actually skating, but this is my dad and I by one of the (SUPER WARM) fires after skating.

The rink after they closed.  They were getting ready to run the Zamboni right as this photo was taken.

We had some rain, and we were blessed with several beautiful rainbows over the lake.

This year, my dad and I made an apple pie.  It is my uncle's special recipe.

The turkey: Before.

After.  It was cooked perfectly, and tasted DELICIOUS!!!!

Our feast.

Our pretty table.  We always use plants to decorate our table.  We used pine branches and mini pumpkins we bought from the store.  We also had gravy, cranberry sauce, and a relish dish.

Me hanging out with my sweetie!

Kooper has a new bed!  Ever since he pulled a muscle on a hike last month, he's been sleeping on the bean bags.  We brought them out for him, because he couldn't jump up on the couch or our beds.  He now loves it, and we plan to make a cover for it so it matches with our decor better. :P  He is actually using the blue one with his special blanket on top now (he doesn't like the vinyl - he's so funny!), because it is more manly! :P

My mom's birthday was during Thanksgiving break, and we made her a special breakfast of Eggs Benedict.  We had a really nice, relaxing day.

I made this cake for her.  It is lemon cake with lemon frosting.  It was very yummy!

I hope that you and your family had a very nice Thanksgiving break also, and that you are enjoying preparing for Christmas.  We just got our tree up tonight (it is artificial), and we are going to decorate it tomorrow along with our house.  Have a great weekend!
